He watched as Freemasons in the Italian capital unashamedly celebrated the bicentennary of their foundation, shouting blasphemous slogans, wielding black flagsand carrying irreverent placards. While St. Maximilian was unaware that Our Lady wasconcurrently appearing at Fatima, he did realize that the defeat of Freemasonry and the establishment of peace in theworld would come only through Her. Kolbe knew the Immaculata would ultimately triumph (Genesis 3:15), but hewas just as convinced that the Church Militant had to do itspart, particularly in the fight against Freemasonry.Three days after the Miracle of the Sun, on October16, 1917, St. Maximilian established the Militia of the Immaculata, “to work for the conversion to God of all men...in particular the Freemasons... through the mediation of theImmaculate Virgin.”We too can fight Freemasonry, by wearing the Miraculous Medal and daily reciting the Militia’s prayer:O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourseto Thee, and for all those who do not have recourse to Thee, especially the Freemasons and all those commended to Thee.ix“Our ultimate end isthat of Voltaire and of theFrench Revolution – the finaldestruction of Catholicism andeven of the Christian idea.”– From The Permanent Instruction of the Alta VenditaCONTENTSForeword...........................................................................................ixPreface........................................................................................... xiiiAn Outline ........................................................................................1Is It Possible? ....................................................................................3The Authenticity of the Alta Vendita Documents .............................4The Permanent Instruction of the Alta Vendita ................................5The Enlightenment, My Friend Is “Blowin’ in the Wind” ................9“Liberal Catholics” .........................................................................11Pope St. Pius X and Modernism .....................................................11Curia on the Alert ...........................................................................13Canon Roca’s Revolutionary Ravings ............................................14The Great Council that Never Was .................................................15Roncalli to “Consecrate Ecumenism” ............................................16Pope John’s Revolution ..................................................................17“Marching under a New Banner” ...................................................18Cheers from the Masonic Bleachers ...............................................20A Break with the Past .....................................................................22The Status of the Vatican II Documents .........................................23“A Revolution in Tiara and Cope” ..................................................26The Passion of the Church ..............................................................26“Only She Can Help You” ..............................................................27Notes ...............................................................................................28Appendix I. We witness thecorresponding diabolical disorientation foretold by theBlessed Virgin in 1917. Russia’s errors continue to spreadand Freemasonry’s satanic objectives are being realized, because the request for the Consecration of Russia to theImmaculate Heart of Mary is still unfulfilled. This is because the devil and his minions – especially the Freemasons– do everything they can to prevent the Consecration. Theirpower will cease, the Alta Vendita giving way to Heaven’sPeace Plan.An old proverb asserts “Forewarned is forearmed.” Thelate John Vennari armed the Church Militant in her fightagainst Freemasonry with the succinct yet priceless information found in these pages. Thousands benefited from thefirst edition of this work, with countless requests receivedover the years for a second printing. Happily availableagain, let us study and promote it, redoubling our efforts inthe decisive battle for the salvation of souls.xiiiThe Permanent Instruction of theAlta VenditaxvTHE PERMANENT INSTRUCTION OFTHE ALTA VENDITAFew Catholics know of The Permanent Instruction ofthe Alta Vendita, a secret document written in the early19th century that mapped out a blueprint for the subversionof the Catholic Church. The Alta Vendita was the highestlodge of the Carbonari, an Italian secret society with linksto Freemasonry and which, along with Freemasonry, wascondemned by the Catholic Church.1 Fr. E. Cahill, S.J. in hisbook Freemasonry and the Anti-Christian Movement statesthat the Alta Vendita was “commonly supposed to have beenat the time the governing centre of European Freemasonry.”2The Carbonari were most active in Italy and France. In his book Athanasius and the Church of Our Time,Bishop Rudolph Graber quoted a Freemason who declared,“The goal [of Freemasonry] is no longer the destruction ofthe Church, but to make use of it by infiltrating it.”3In other words, since Freemasonry cannot completelyobliterate Christ’s Church, it plans not only to eradicatethe influence of Catholicism in society, but also to use theChurch’s structure as an instrument of “renewal,” “progress” and “enlightenment” to further many of its own principles and goals. An OutlineThe strategy advanced in The Permanent Instruction of1the Alta Vendita is astonishing in its audacity and cunning. From the start, the document tells of a process that will takedecades to accomplish. Those who drew up the documentknew that they would not see its fulfillment. They were inaugurating a work that would be carried on by succeeding generations of the initiated. The Permanent Instruction states,“In our ranks the solider dies and the struggle goes on.”The Instruction called for the dissemination of liberalideas and axioms throughout society and within the institutions of the Catholic Church so that laity, seminarians, clerics and prelates would, over the years, gradually be imbuedwith progressive principles. In time, this mind-set would be so pervasive that priestswould be ordained, bishops would be consecrated and cardinals would be nominated whose thinking was in step withthe modern thought rooted in the French Revolution’s Declaration of the Rights of Man and other “Principles of 1789”(equality of religions, separation of Church and State, religious pluralism, etc.).Eventually, a Pope would be elected from these rankswho would lead the Church on the path of “enlightenment”and “renewal.” They stated that it was not their aim to placea Freemason on the Chair of Peter. Their goal was to effectan environment that would eventually produce a Pope and ahierarchy won over to the ideas of liberal Catholicism, butwho would all the while believe themselves to be faithfulCatholics.2These Catholic leaders, then, would no longer opposethe modern ideas of the Revolution (as has been the consistent practice of the Popes from 1789 until 1958 – the deathof Pope Pius XII – who condemned these liberal principles)but would amalgamate them into the Church. The end resultwould be a Catholic clergy and laity marching under thebanner of the Enlightenment, all the while thinking they aremarching under the banner of the Apostolic keys.Is It Possible? For those who may believe this scheme to be too farfetched, a goal too hopeless for the enemy to attain, it shouldbe noted that both Blessed Pope Pius IX (beatified in 2000)and Pope Leo XIII asked that The Permanent Instruction bepublished, no doubt in order to prevent such a tragedy fromtaking place. However, if such a dark state of affairs would ever cometo pass, there would obviously be three unmistakable meansof recognizing it:1) It would produce an upheaval of such magnitudethat the entire world would realize that there hadbeen a major revolution inside the Catholic Churchin line with modern ideas. It would be clear to allthat an “updating” had taken place.2) A new theology would be introduced that would bein contradiction to previous teachings.33) The Freemasons themselves would voice their cocka-doodle of triumph, believing that the CatholicChurch had finally “seen the light” on such points asequality of religions, the secular state, pluralism andwhatever other compromises had been achieved. The Authenticity of the Alta Vendita DocumentsThe secret papers of the Alta Vendita that fell into thehands of Pope Gregory XVI embrace a period that goesfrom 1820 to 1846. They were published at the request ofPope Pius IX by Cretineau-Joly in his work The RomanChurch and Revolution.4With the brief of approbation of February 25, 1861,which he addressed to the author, Pope Pius IX guaranteedthe authenticity of these documents, but he did not allowanyone to divulge the true members of the Alta Vendita implicated in this correspondence. The full text of the The Permanent Instruction of theAlta Vendita is also contained in Msgr. George E. Dillon’sbook, Grand Orient Freemasonry Unmasked. When PopeLeo XIII was presented with a copy of Msgr. Dillon’s book,he was so impressed that he ordered an Italian version to becompleted and published at his own expense.5In the Encyclical Humanum Genus (1884), Leo XIIIcalled upon Catholic leaders to “tear off the mask fromFreemasonry and make plain to all what it really is.”6 Thepublication of these documents is a means of “tearing off4the mask.”And if the Popes asked that these letters be published,it is because they wanted all Catholics to know the secretsocieties’ plan to subvert the Church from within – so thatCatholics would be on their guard and, hopefully, preventsuch a catastrophe from taking place. The Permanent Instruction of the Alta VenditaWhat follows is not the entire Instruction, but the sectionsthat are most pertinent to our discussion. The documentreads (with emphasis added):Our ultimate end is that of Voltaireand of the French Revolution – the finaldestruction of Catholicism, and even ofthe Christian idea. . . .The Pope, whoever he is, will nevercome to the secret societies; it is up tothe secret societies to take the first steptoward the Church, with the aim of conquering both of them. The task that we are going to undertake is not the work of a day, or ofa month, or of a year; it may last several years, perhaps a century; but in ourranks, the solider dies and the strugglegoes on.5We do not intend to win the Popes toour cause, to make them neophytes ofour principles, propagators of our ideas. That would be a ridiculous dream; andif events turn out in some way, if Cardinals or prelates, for example, of theirown free will or by surprise, should enter into a part of our secrets, this is notat all incentive for desiring their elevation to the See of Peter. That elevationwould ruin us. Ambition alone wouldhave led them to apostasy; the requirements of power would force them tosacrifice us. What we must ask for, whatwe should look for and wait for, as theJews wait for the Messiah, is a Pope according.
